Black Widow, Natalia Romanoff’s solo Marvel film, was originally slated to release in May of 2020, but has since been pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. The film is now slated to release on November 6th, replacing The Eternals’ initial launch date, by which time - hopefully - the COVID-19 pandemic will have burned out.

Originally, Black Widow’s soundtrack was to be created by Alexandre Desplat, an Oscar-winning composer. However, he has now been replaced by Lorne Balfe, who has worked on a wide range of films including Bad Boys For Life and fellow Scarlett Johansson film Ghost in the Shell, as well as games like Beyond: Two Souls.
There has yet to be an official explanation offered as to why Desplat’s position was reassigned to Balfe. Although replacing composers on films isn’t unheard of, making major changes this close to the film’s initial release date is unusual. However, Balfe’s prior work with Marvel on the original Iron Man may have been enough to bring him back into the fold.
With several months added back onto the wait for Marvel’s Black Widow, it now remains to be seen if any more last-minute changes will be made to the film.
Black Widow is now set to release on November 6th in theaters.
