Because Marvel’s Avengers is a live-service title, it bears the weight of content expectancy. Any content unveiled and released is expected to be followed up with content that is just as rich. Unfortunately, no new content roadmap has been shared since Marvel’s Avengers stated the newest roadmap would be detailed in early 2022. That time has passed with no new information, but a new development update has suddenly dropped today that hopes to shed more context on future updates, which will include the release of its newest playable character.

Marvel’s Avengers announced in an April Development Update that two new updates are on their way in 2.4 and 2.5. But the most profound of this news is the announcement of Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor. Jane’s official announcement confirms recent rumors about Marvel’s Avengers’ next playable character, and the associated rumor that Jane’s release is meant to coincide with the theatrical release of Thor: Love and Thunder this July is also plausible now as a result.

Marvel’s Avengers’ announcement intriguingly follows yesterday’s surprise trailer release for Thor: Love and Thunder, which offered its first official look at Natalie Portman’s armored, Mjolnir-wielding character outside of marketing art and action figures. This could be a coincidence, but it would also make sense if Marvel’s Avengers wishes to ride the movie’s hype with its own character release.

It is also shared that Jane will be an echo character of Thor and share similar abilities while at the same time “she will also have elements that are distinctly Jane.” Jane will not release until Update 2.5, however, and Update 2.4 will release sooner with reworked event frameworks. Such event alterations in 2.4 will have Marvel’s Avengers “improving and diversifying rewards” and “higher power level gear rewards” as a way to “make events more compelling and to reward mission and objective play.”

Marvel’s Avengers’ latest development update is not exactly the month-by-month roadmap fans had hoped for, but it is still possible that a detailed schedule of content could be made available to fans at some point in the future. Update 2.4 is “currently targeting a May release,” so more information about said-content will hopefully be clearer in a month’s time.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
