In the first War Table stream, Marvel’s Avengers gave fans a closer look at cooperative War Zones missions. These are coop focused missions where up to four players can team up to take on missions with a variety of objectives, challenges, and boss fights. Better yet, players can also take on these missions solo with three AI teammates based on the player’s unlocked and customized heroes. Before the mission begins, players can matchmake as well as customize their selected hero with gear, loadouts, and skins.

Unlike the somewhat self contained story missions, War Zones feature a mix of open world sections where players can navigate and explore to smaller and tighter indoor sections which are focused on combat. To Tame a Titan was shown off and revealed numerous gameplay aspects like Team Finishers where two players can finish a larger opponent who is stunned. Certain abilities can also be used to support or enhance teammates such as Thor providing a damage buff to Iron Man as he flies through the area of effect.

In addition to the deep dive, a new gameplay trailer showed off a bit more of War Zones in action including a few faces that Marvel fans will likely remember. The first is Nick Fury who appears on a screen to provide some motivation to the team. He appears to be wearing his comic book style blue and white suit under a trench coat. The end of the trailer also reveals the Hulkbuster suit for Iron Man, a massive armor variant that allowed Tony Stark to battle the Hulk in comics and in the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie.

In addition to new features and game modes, the War Table stream also confirmed and showed off the game’s ultimate villain, a character long hinted at by the inclusion of the A.I.M. organization. Dr. George Tarleton, better known as M.O.D.O.K. was shown off and detailed to be the villain responsible for the current plight of the Avengers. Fans will likely be happy to note that the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing looks very close to how he has in the comics and TV shows.

Marvel’s Avengers releases on September 4 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are also in development.
