There was a lot of information to take in during the Marvel’s Avengers War Table about the game’s upcoming beta. Fans can expect to play the Golden Gate bridge sequence with the hero squad that has been shown off numerous times and upon completing that, the beta opens up and gives players access to the War Table. This allows players to play as The Hulk and Kamala Khan as they venture to the Pacific Northwest and later to Russia, with one mission ending in a boss fight with Abomination. After these missions, fans will be able to complete other missions in co-op or solo with AI companions.

After finishing the beta, fans will earn a pickaxe for Epic’s super popular battle royale game Fortnite, which would mark yet another crossover between Fortnite and Marvel. The pickaxe resembles the Hulk’s fists so players can smash their way through buildings and trees to gain materials. The Hulk hands also have an alternate option that makes the pickaxe look like Iron Man’s Hulkbuster armor. This bonus item will be rewarded to fans on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Unfortunately, there was no mention of the bonus on PC.

Fortnite and Marvel are no strangers to each other. This would be another cross over for the two powerhouses as players have seen Fortnite feature different skins and game types centered around Marvel characters. Around the release of Avengers: Endgame, Fortnite released skins for Black Widow and Starlord as well as a game type where players fought against Thanos. Most recently, Fortnite released a Captain America skin around the 4th of July.

Players looking to participate in the Marvel’s Avengers beta can do so by pre-ordering the game to get a beta code or simply waiting for the open portion of the beta. On August 7, the beta is available on PlayStation 4 for those that pre-order. Xbox and PC players who pre-order can participate on August 14, the same day the PlayStation 4’s beta becomes available to everyone. And lastly, on August 21, the beta will be open to everyone on the three platforms.

Marvel’s Avengers releases for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One on September 4, 2020. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are in development.
