After activating all of Rocket’s Thumper devices, the noise brings a red pair of eyes into view, but the team can’t get a good look at the creature until it’s captured. It’s not immediately clear how to accomplish the task, so this guide will explain exactly how to capture the monster in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

How to Capture the Monster in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Once players have control of Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy they will lose their ability to scan with his visor, meaning there aren’t as many hints as normal on what to do. As the creature is hiding behind whatever it can while the team pursues it, players should destroy all of the crates in the room to stop it from easily hiding.

To activate the next step in capturing the monster, make sure all of the crates have been shot. While playing during this Guardians of the Galaxy gameplay moment, players don’t have access to Peter’s visor, so they can’t search for them this way. Thankfully, they are easily spotted even without it.

Even with all of the crates taken care of, the creature is still uncatchable using Peter, so players have to run after it and then quickly use Groot’s ability to hold the monster in place. They can do this by holding L1/LB on consoles, and then pressing the corresponding Groot button. The gentle giant has a few differences in Square Enix’s Guardians of the Galaxy compared to the MCU Groot version. However, he’s still the same friendly character, and a very useful ally in combat.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy may have changed character origins and designs, but it absolutely nails the comedy found in the James Gunn MCU movies. The cutscene that plays after capturing the monster will be familiar to any Marvel moviegoer.

Chapter 1 will soon be over after this, but not before players get to experience another thrilling Guardians moment. If players want to repeat the chapter to search for collectibles or choose different decisions, they can load any completed chapter from the main menu of the game.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
