Deadpool is one of the game’s most exciting DLC characters because of how often he bends and rewrites the rules of the medium he exists in. In comic books, for example, Deadpool can leave the panel he is drawn into and speak directly to the reader. Nothing has been shown yet for what his tactics gameplay or social RPG features will look like, but he has been long confirmed as the first DLC character to launch as part of Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Season Pass. Deadpool’s release window has now been revealed, and it could suggest that a fairly romantic release date is possible.

Deadpool Comes to Marvel’s Midnight Suns in February

Deadpool took to Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ social media again to ring in the new year, announcing that he would be arriving in the game in a month. Fans have already had a look at what each character’s gold, white, and black Marvel’s Midnight Suns costume will look like, with Deadpool wearing a witch’s hat.

There is also no expectation of narrative content being added alongside each character, and if such content was indeed being added it surely would have been announced already. Instead, it seems as though these DLC characters will drop with fresh lines of dialogue for every character, at least if they are all expected to acknowledge new character entries.

The character will be able to accompany players as they tackle general missions or be sent out to field ops missions, but it will be most exciting to see how Deadpool behaves around the Abbey. There is little doubt now that Deadpool will officially be a playable character come February, but it is still undetermined what specific day he will launch. February is known most prolifically for Valentine’s Day, though, and would also make an excellent release date for Deadpool.

Valentine’s Day Would Be a Warm Welcome for the Merc with a Mouth

Marketing for this occasion would essentially write itself, with Deadpool being able to ask players to invite him out on a hangout or Haven date to celebrate the day’s festive romance. Marvel’s Midnight Suns itself does not put on any holiday-oriented updates with decorations strewn about the Abbey, but marketing on the game’s social media could have Deadpool address Valentine’s Day as a part of his momentous arrival.

Romance is unavailable in Marvel’s Midnight Suns between the player and other characters—this is punctuated by Blade and Captain Marvel’s budding romance, making players wish they could have a love interest of their own. Regardless, players could easily associate their hangouts with Deadpool or any other character as romantic in their personal head canon.

This would be a clever way to encourage players to hang out with Deadpool and spend an unused Haven on him for some special time alone. It will be exciting to see what Deadpool has to say in these situations either way since he will undoubtedly shake up the Abbey as the most eccentric and unpredictable character on Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ roster.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4, Switch, and Xbox One versions coming later.
