If players purchased Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Legendary Edition, they will see more cosmetic skins available than players who bought one of the other editions. This is only one benefit of the Legendary Edition’s DLC, with its biggest allure being the addition of four new playable characters in Marvel’s Midnight Suns at some point in the future. In terms of these additional skins, Marvel’s Midnight Suns only features several additional skins for Spider-Man besides his default red-and-blue skin, but one of those skins is a beloved costume that Firaxis absolutely excelled at adapting: the symbiote suit.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Few Spider-Man Skins Are Incredibly Detailed
Marvel’s Midnight Suns spends a lot of time in Part One with players battling Fallen Venom and witnessing the effects that the corrupted symbiote’s tendrils have on the Sanctum Sanctorum. Spider-Man comes along to help thwart Venom multiple times, serving as the key to players’ strategies against him.
But even though the symbiote does not physically pass from Eddie Brock to Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Spider-Man, players can still equip Peter Parker with a symbiote suit. The suit’s simple black-and-white design is unmatched and represents the character’s unique iconography from some fans’ favorite moments in the comics. This skin sets itself apart from other iterations because Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ symbiote suit represents the alien substance’s glossy sheen, as opposed to a cloth rendition of the suit like the one that Black Cat fashions for Peter in the comics.
Further, the Hunter’s Faithbreaker suit is derived from a symbiote sample and represents writhing tendrils in its design, demonstrating that Firaxis has an understanding of the alien symbiote being more than an ordinary black suit. This suit was a smart addition as a cosmetic skin because the symbiote was sorely missed in Marvel’s Spider-Man, and it stands out as one of the few additional skins Spider-Man has in Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Symbiote Suit Shows Great Respect for Its Original Design
Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ symbiote suit is excellent because its simplicity is key to its design. Its comic book source material influence abandons Spider-Man’s traditional web pattern and detailing for a large white spider insignia that wraps around from his chest to his back. The suit’s lenses are white, and there are white patches on the backs of the suit’s hands where the symbiote would traditionally sling symbiote-manufactured webbing. Otherwise, the suit is entirely black. In Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Firaxis has gone the extra mile to show detail in the symbiote with a slimy and flesh-like texture instead of being a smooth, matte material.
This is a detail that is more difficult to see from further away when Spider-Man is isolated on one of Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ combat mission battlefields, but up close it is easily discernible. In this way, Marvel’s Midnight Suns experiments with the design slightly while still honoring its roots with commendable distinction.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4, Switch, and Xbox One versions coming later.
