The Token system for Marvel Snap is a long-awaited feature enabling players to choose specific cards to acquire. Players can spend their Tokens, a currency, to purchase cards from a new shop. To earn Tokens, players simply have to open caches or reserves like normal. The Tokens have replaced Boosters in these caches, which players were frustrated with anyway. Caches have also had another change, with Marvel Snap’s new Series 4 and Series 5 cards having a very low chance of dropping. It’s an overall major change in rewards.

Whatever Second Dinner did to change caches has led to an unfortunate glitch. Some players are reporting that when they upgrade their Collection Level and unlock a cache or reserve, they’re receiving nothing from opening it. Others claim that they’ve received Boosters, which are no longer supposed to be a possible reward. To be clear, the problem appears to only be impacting a minority of Marvel Snap players, but for those it is happening to it’s obviously a very frustrating and unacceptable issue.

Marvel Snap developer Second Dinner is well aware of the problem and is investigating. Chief development officer Ben Brode has confirmed on social media that Second Dinner is aware of the issue with caches and working on a solution. The most recent update from Brode is that a fix has not yet been found, but that Second Dinner will share news about the problem as it’s able.

What makes the problem so egregious, and bigger than it may seem, is that cache rewards in Marvel Snap are a key part of the game’s progression. It’s not as simple as fixing the issue and then handing out some Credits as an apology. Players’ ability to gain Collection Level, improve their cards, earn new cards, and so to compete have been influenced by this problem. The longer it persists, the bigger the problem becomes.

Second Dinner will hopefully have a solution to the problem soon, and will hopefully share more information regarding how those impacted by the bug will receive recompense, too. For what’s one of Marvel Snap’s biggest and best updates yet, it’s a shame that there’s such an unacceptable problem, but that’s how game development goes sometimes.

Marvel Snap is available now on PC and mobile devices.
