Marvel Snap: Who Wins a Tiebreaker?
If both players have the same number of locations won when a match reaches its end, the player with the most total power on the board is declared the winner. As such, fans should do their best to get as much power as possible onto the board when they feel as though a tie is imminent. Iron Man and Devil Dinosaur, Pool 1 cards in Marvel Snap, are good options for getting big power boosts, though they are certainly not the only cards that can be used to break a tie.

To note, determining the winner of a tied match is not the only time that the results of comparing both players’ total power matters. Specifically, if players find themselves with the same number of locations won in the middle of a match, then total power is used to determine who reveals first in Marvel Snap. This can have a big impact on turns involving cards with On Reveal effects, as they can be thwarted by having initiative.
For example, if a Marvel Snap player is set to flip first and expects their opponent to play a card with a big On Reveal effect, such as Odin, they could sneak in Cosmo and blow out their turn. For the uninitiated, Cosmo prevents On Reveal effects from occurring at the location where it is placed, and it can lead to big swings if it catches an opponent by surprise. Scarlet Witch is another Pool 1 card that can benefit from having initiative, as it can be used to ambush an opponent’s plans.
With total power affecting both who flips first and who wins in a tied scenario, it is important that players give it some amount of attention during their matches. This is especially true as fans increase their Collection Level in Marvel Snap and start going up against more experienced opponents, as achieving victory in those battles will require a better understanding of the intricacies of the game.
