For Mass Effect: Andromeda fans who were anticipating further single-player content releases, whether that be via DLC or updates, BioWare’s not completely abandoning the story. Instead of continuing Andromeda’s story in-game, it’ll be furthered in other media including comics and novels. And yes, BioWare specifically notes that the Quarian Ark’s fate is an area of focus for these upcoming releases. It may not be what fans expected, but it is something.

Multiplayer in Mass Effect: Andromeda will also continue to be updated, according to BioWare’s letter.

For those unfamiliar, N7 Day is an annual celebration of all things Mass Effect. N7 2016 hosted some major reveals about Mass Effect: Andromeda. While 2017’s N7 Day is likely to be a much more somber event, it’s nice to hear that BioWare will keep the tradition going - even if it is more understated than normal.

While the focus of the letter was clearly to make the end of Mass Effect: Andromeda’s development official, there was a secondary message of thanks that deserves to be reiterated. Whether you’re a fan of Mass Effect: Andromeda or not, hundreds of BioWare developers put a lot of effort into a project they wanted nothing more than to be a proper continuation of the franchise’s legacy. And now with the game in the rear-view mirror, there’s a lot of regret on all sides. But there’s also an opportunity to look to the future.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
