From a LEGO bust of Quarian crewmate Tali, to an imagining of fan favorite Garrus as a Jedi, Mass Effect fans have found numerous and creative ways to show off their love for a certain character or the franchise as a whole. Now though, one fan is looking to create a tribute to the series’ antagonists, the Reapers. The Reapers are insect-like, huge machines that are created with the goal of wiping life from the galaxy every fifty-thousand years or so.

For the first three Mass Effect games, the Reapers are Shepard’s most intimidating threat, and the player must work throughout the games to find a way to save the galaxy’s lives. One fan though, Reddit user dr_pupsgesicht, has made the Reapers seems slightly less intimidating by creating the machines with LEGO. Using LEGO creation tool stud.io, the Mass Effect fan was able to imagine what a LEGO version of the Reapers could look like, creating four unique designs showing off their LEGO building skills.

The Reaper models look very close to the huge machines of death seen in the Mass Effect games, though something that is missing that was spotted by fans is the lack of purple coloring that Reapers are known for. It is difficult to get hold of purple LEGO bricks, so many were quick to ignore that slight misstep with the build. More who saw the Reddit post commented about the accuracy of the model, asking for instructions on how to build it. Even more fans wanted to see a Mass Effect LEGO set, allowing players to build every ship seen in Shepard’s cabin on the Normandy in the later games.

Fan tributes have often combined LEGO and favorite gaming moments. From one Red Dead Redemption 2 fan creating the game’s most famous scenes in LEGO to a Zelda fan recreating the entirety of the first game’s map, LEGO gives a seemingly endless amount of possibilities for fans to create tributes with. Gaming LEGO sets, like the crossover between LEGO and Minecraft, have happened before, though whether Mass Effect will get that treatment is currently unknown.
