While it’s debatable based on what each individual player is looking for out of their armor, the Colossus armor in Mass Effect 1 is one of the best sets in the entire Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. It comes at a handful of different levels but is widely regarded as high-tier for those looking for rare loot. The problem is that acquiring it can prove to be challenging if the player doesn’t know where to look and players who do aren’t much better off.

How to Get Colossus Armor in Mass Effect 1

As mentioned above, getting Colossus armor isn’t entirely straightforward because even after acquiring the proper armor license and reaching the required level, it’s still up to chance if and when it spawns in vendors. To get it spawning at all, Shepard will need the Kassa Fabrication armor license. To get that, head to the C-Sec Requisitions Officer on the Citadel and purchase it. This allows armor made by the company to spawn with the Normandy’s Requisitions Officer.

Because his stock is generated randomly, there’s no straight path to getting the Colossus armor. There are light, medium, and heavy variants for humans, Krogans, Turians and Quarians so the chances of it spawning exactly as desired are slim. If it does show up in the Normandy’s Requisitions Officer’s stock make sure to grab it as it’s not a common occurrence. Receiving the armor from the Officer might be best acquired by reloading saves until it spawns, but this obviously might take a while and has no real guarantee.

There are some missions that occasionally spawn it as rewards such as Bring Down the Sky. Bring Down the Sky is one of the two DLC missions included in Mass Effect 1 for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. To get the armor as a reward, complete the mission in the Asgard system and make sure to find each of the three missing engineers. After finding them, report back to Simon Atwell and he will offer Shepard their choice of reward. They can then choose the desired armor class, but it isn’t a guarantee that it will be Colossus.
