According to Darrah, Mass Effect is ripe with potential when it comes to fresh tales that BioWare could share, as the Anthem Executive Producer explained, “There’s a lot of stories to be told. We could pull on the threads we put down with Andromeda; we could pull on threads from Mass Effect 3. There’s a lot of interesting space to be explored.” Backing him up, Hudson stated that he’s constantly pondering where Mass Effect could go next.

The fact that BioWare still has ideas for the Mass Effect franchise shouldn’t be too surprising to the sci-fi series’ fans, as Hudson stated several months ago that the studio intends to revisit the IP with a new game at some point down the line. While this will surely be an exciting prospect to those who adore the Mass Effect franchise, it must be firmly established that one should consider the next project in the ME universe to be in the incredibly early stages of pre-production.

As of now, BioWare is preparing for the impending launch of its newest IP, Anthem, and is currently hard at work on developing the next entry to the Dragon Age series, so another Mass Effect likely won’t be in the cards for quite some time. At any rate, one can only hope for the sake of BioWare and its fans that the next installment in the sci-fi series is a marked improvement over its predecessor, Andromeda.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
