While the fanbase for Marvel’s Avengers was quick to let Square Enix know of the problems with hero exclusivity when news first broke, the issue has become more problematic as time has gone on. Not only is Spider-Man’s exclusivity problematic due to how much of the game’s potential playerbase will be missing out on the content, but the current state of the game makes its release even more frustrating. When Spider-Man arrives, his debut could prove to be a double-edged sword that stops Marvel’s Avengers’ rise from the ashes dead in its tracks....

Since Marvel’s Avengers launched in August 2020, Crystal Dynamics has offered a vast array of skins for the game’s heroes pulled directly from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the most recent updates saw Natasha Romanoff don her white suit from 2021’s Black Widow, which also introduced the world to the woman who may take up the mantle, Yelena Bolova. Other films Crystal Dynamics have pulled from include 2012’s Avengers, 2018’s Black Panther, and the film which started it all, 2008’s Iron Man....

Spider-Man’s DLC tease has left fans anticipating the character’s arrival for a lengthy period of time, though it appears as though fans might see the character sometime soon since he was recently confirmed to be releasing this year. All-Father Designs, an avid conceptual enthusiast in the Marvel’s Avengers community who shares their thoughts and designs for skin cosmetics and mechanics that they would like to see implemented into the game, has since considered what Spider-Man’s traversal might look like....

It has been pointed out by many that Marvel’s Avengers feels like two games put together. Some fans argue that on the one hand, the single player components are great, and feel satisfying in story and gameplay. On the other hand, the live service aspects don’t mesh so well and feel unneccessary. What has held several players back is a series of issues with the game itself. If the fan got their wish, the post-launch content would be split up into three different DLC chapters that come together to tell one connected story. This format will surely be familiar to fans of the original Marvel’s Spider-Man, as the City That Never Sleeps DLC run was handled the exact same way. Each of these fan-made concepts features a fresh villain, ensuring that the game’s boss lineup would grow significantly by the time this hypothetical DLC finished releasing....

Taskmaster’s Challenges are one of the many forms of side content available in Marvel’s Spider-Man’s version of New York City. These missions see Taskmaster studying the wall-crawler, testing him in various ways to get an idea of how he moves and fights. The objectives see Taskmaster pushing Spidey to dispose of bombs, defeat waves of foes, stealthily take out an enemy group, and traverse the environment quickly. Taskmaster attacks after five challenges are completed, returning for a second fight once all of them are complete....

It allows players to upgrade the visual look of cards and is constantly rewarding investment with incremental progression which unlocks new cards and opportunities to upgrade owned cards....

The first new addition to the Marvel side of the Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite roster is Black Panther, who Capcom describes as a fast moving melee fighter. As seen in Mazorr’s image below, the Mass Effect: Andromeda fan was exploring the game’s desert world of Elaaden when they decided to look upward and notice what appears to be the iconic Bat symbol that is emblazoned across Bruce Wayne’s chest when he takes to the streets of Gotham City as the World’s Greatest Detective. Interestingly enough, when juxtaposed next to The Dark Knight Rises’ film poster, it’s hard to deny the similarities between the upwards view of the buildings on Elaaden and the movie artwork....

Gamble seems to be taking the reaction in good stride, saying that he will be “very happy” to see how people enjoy the game after the 10 hour mark - which is as long as the Mass Effect: Andromeda EA Access trial lasts. In an earlier tweet, the producer also noted that he “can’t wait” for everyone to “dig deep” into the game’s story as Gamble personally feels that this is where the “best reward” lies....

Props to Electronic Arts and BioWare for making this original property explode. Mass Effect 3 is making headlines for introducing multiplayer to the franchise, and if action figures and an art book that ship with DLC isn’t enough, how about a Mass Effect mobile app? The four-player cooperative multiplayer mode being introduced in Mass Effect 3 follows the same guidelines BioWare applies to the game’s single-player campaign, in that it must be story and character focused....

Although in the end Andromeda introduced just two new organic alien species - at least, two that actually made an appearance in the game in-person - there were originally plans for far more. In fact, Andromeda could have had up to 10 new alien races, but many were cut for budgetary and cosplay reasons before the game’s release. Mass Effect 4 should bring some of those cut concepts back....

For the uninitiated, Karpyshyn is the hugely respected writer who was a major part of BioWare for a number of well-received titles. Chief among his back catalogue are the first two Mass Effect games and Knights of the Old Republic, as well as a number of novels from both properties. Karpyshyn has now confirmed that he is back for Anthem. Karpyshyn had initially confirmed his return to BioWare back in 2015 after retiring from video games, but it was not exactly certain what the writer would be doing at the company....
