According to a recent blog post on Square Enix’s website, Marvel’s Avengers co-op won’t allow players to join missions in progress, so parties that want friends to join in mid-match will either need to exit to the menu screen, or wait for a mission to be completed before they can join in. Vincent Napoli, the lead combat designer at Crystal Dynamics, had some comments for a Reddit post that tries to break down the Avengers overview video. Napoli hints at one of the mysterious items in the game, “Actually we have a bunch of pretty cool twists up our sleeves for how Artifacts stand out among other items. Unlike the leaked Marvel’s Avengers characters She-Hulk and Captain Marvel, Patrol Mode was officially confirmed by Square Enix and announced by Crystal Dynamics. Teased alongside the Cosmic Cube Villain Sector and other major additions, the first post about this mode was made back on March 25, 2021. Over a year later, it has still not come to the game, and it is unclear if it will ever actually become a reality....

In its latest financial report, Square Enix reveals that it plans to “unveil the details of our major new HD games for FY2020/3.” It then goes on to say that “out of consideration of competitor release schedules, our major launches will take place after midyear of FY2020/3.” Since Marvel’s Avengers is one of the games that Square Enix has confirmed will be at E3 2019, it’s not a reach to assume that the game is aiming for a FY2020/3 release....
